Libby’s Artroom - 34 West George St.
Join us for a creative afternoon inspired by the work of Scottish artist Joan Eardley, who once said, “Glasgow is the place I love. I feel that it’s my place.” In fact her studio is in view of the Artroom and we will be taking inspiration from the same streets Eardley worked from.
In this session, we'll dive into pentimenti drawing, experimenting with vibrant color and bold lines on both pastel papers and sandpapers—just as Eardley did in her evocative depictions of Glasgow’s streets and buildings.
Together, we’ll draw inspiration from the views of the city, whether from Libby’s studio window, videos and photographs or by walking around the same streets Joan did together. You’ll learn how to embrace the loose, free-flowing nature of pastels, making each stroke a part of your creative exploration.
By the end of the class, you’ll gain a deeper understanding of Joan Eardley’s artistic legacy, a new appreciation for soft pastels, and a collection of your own drawings to inspire future projects—or even to frame!
All Materials supplied for you to take away, includes quality papers and pastel set.
