Kate Colin is a designer/maker based in Glasgow who works with paper to create handmade sculptural lighting.
Inspired by three dimensional geometric form, her range of unique designs are created by using intricate hand scoring and paper folding techniques through which she explores how light, colour and geometry interact.
Every piece in this limited range is a one-off and 100% handmade using a unique combination of Libby's illustrations. When illuminated, the appearance of each shade is radically transformed: the intricacies and details of the drawings become emphasised while an intensity of colour is brilliantly revealed.
The Crane is inspired by Glasgow's iconic shipbuilding heritage. Using a pulley, the cord reflects the famous cranes of our city.
The pulley wheel is found on the pulleymaids found in Glasgow tenements kitchens.
Inspired by the journey from Partick - where the two artists live - to Finnieston, where these shall be displayed. We both hope you love and enjoy this unique piece of design.
Designed, inspired and made in collaboration by Libby and Kate.
