I work in gouache paint and ink for my artwork, however I'm always keen to try new things and add to my skill set. When Apple introduced the ipad pro with the ability to draw direct on the screen, it opened up a whole new way of making art to me. Artists have been ahead of the game for a while, David Hockney exhibited ipad drawings in 2011 for example.
I couldn't resist the idea of being able to create large, detailed artworks from the comfort of the sofa or making the most of long train journeys. Below you will see the 54hours of tracked drawing time condensed into 30 seconds.
I was inspired to create an artwork from my simple love of seeing nature's chaos breaking thought the artificial colour and pattern of our city's built environment. I did get strange looks as I stopped mid run to take a photo of greenery breaking through sandstone bricks or plastic bag caught in railings.
This print will soon be available, a velvet wall hanging is currently in production.
